1.1 Use of Website Content and Copyright

1.1 All intellectual property in the website and its contents including, but not limited to, layout, design, images, copy and trademarks are and remain the property of the NOTIY.

1.1.2 Content from this site may be copied for personal use only; any replication of the content, layout or code for any other business purpose without specific consent constitutes copyright infringement.

4.1 Class Listings

4.1.1 The NOTIY makes every effort to ensure the class listings are up to date however we strongly suggest that you contact the teacher in advance of attending a class.

4.1.2 The class listings shown are for NOTIY teacher members only.

2. Event Cancellations

2.1 NOTIY appreciates that sometimes-unforeseen circumstances may mean that participants may not be able to attend a workshop. If a participant is unable to attend a booked workshop, then NOTIY will offer a transfer of monies to attend a future workshop. 

2.2 Substitutions are allowed at any time on condition that the NOTIY is informed of the name and details of the substitution in advance of the event so long as the substitute has 6 months or more experience of Iyengar yoga.

3. NOTIY Event Cancellation

The NOTIY reserve the right to cancel an event in whole or in part if circumstances arise which would make it non-viable. We will make every effort to give as much notice as possible. In this situation we will provide a full refund to participants

  1. What information do we collect?

NOTIY holds different data about members and non-members.  By joining NOTIY as a member, or by booking to attend an event at NOTIY, you are giving your consent to us to hold this data.

To book events on our website we ask you to tell us your name, address, phone number and email address; membership number, who your teacher is, whether you are a teacher yourself and your years’ of Iyengar Yoga practice.

The NOTIY uses “cookies” placed in the browser file to help us collect general information about the behaviour of visitors on our site. This helps us to constantly monitor and improve our website’s functionality. Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies. You may decline, disable or delete cookies whilst visiting this website but this may affect the usability of the site.

At our events we take photographs for marketing purposes which are solely for the use of the NOTIY. If you do not wish to appear in a photograph please let the event organisers know in advance.

2. Using and sharing your personal data?

Any personal information that you do provide us with is used exclusively by the NOTIY to inform you of current and future activities relating to the NOTIY as described in this website (yoga workshops etc).

  • Allow you to book NOTIY events.
  • To register you for events, and to process payments.
  • To keep a record of your attendance and membership status. 
  • To communicate with you by email/post/text. These communications include receipts for your purchases and information about current and future events.
  • Any last-minute changes to events.   
  • Contact you about information that is relevant to you, through our mailing.
  • Market our events on the website, social media and newsletter.

When you join NOTIY either as a member or book an event with us you will receive an invite to join our mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time either by clicking the link in the email or by emailing with the subject line “UNSUBSCRIBE”.

We send emails and newsletters to the mailing list with relevant information about NOTIY or IY(UK), or relevant Iyengar yoga news. We use Mailchimp to do this. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies including clear gifs to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.

For non-members we hold this information so we know who is booked in to our events. When you book an event with us, we will also subscribe you to our mailing list so we can keep you informed about information that is relevant to you.

We use legitimate business interest and will treat the personal information that you have supplied to us in accordance with our responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulation Act 2018 as it applies in the EU and will not pass it to any outside organisations or individuals unless we are required to do so by law.

3. Security of personal data

We will not share any personal details with any other third parties without your agreement, unless required in order to fulfil our contract with you or allowed by law.  The NOTIY uses industry standard technology to ensure the security of your data, and makes every effort to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of any data provided to us.

Current members of NOTIY

We are part of Iyengar Yoga (UK).

Iyengar Yoga (UK) holds their own membership database, which is separate to NOTIY’s database.  We share data with them for the purpose of ensuring that both databases are up to date.  To find out more about Iyengar Yoga (UK) please visit their website.

We do not share your personal data with any other organisation or person.

Previous members of NOTIY and non-members of NOTIY

We do not share your personal data with any organisation or person.

We will only share your personal data between the NOTIY committee members for the use as outlined above. Any paper documents containing your personal data e.g. booking forms are destroyed after they have been processed. Your data may be transferred onto electronic documents so we can review/analyse our events. Your personal data is stored securely on password protected documents. It will be retained for up to 2 years since your last contact with us, it will then be destroyed.

In addition, when you book for events offline (i.e. not through our website) we will keep a written record of your booking.  This will be destroyed after the event.

4. Date access and updates

There are three groups of people who can access your data:

  • The Iyengar Yoga UK membership team, who process and manage membership applications
  • The website team, who manage the website
  • NOTIY committee, who is responsible for communicating with you
